Professional authenticity verification without the cost or wait of full grading services

Authenticate Your Zimbabwe Trillion Dollar Banknote

Zimbabwe’s 50 trillion and 100 trillion dollar notes are among the most recognized banknotes in modern history. They are also heavily counterfeited. If you own one, confirming it is genuine is important. Especially, before selling, trading, or submitting for grading is a smart and responsible step.

Why Authentication Matters

Zimbabwe hyperinflation notes from 2008 are widely collected around the world. Their popularity has led to a steady market of replicas and counterfeits that can look convincing in photos. Many collectors unknowingly purchase reproductions. Others hesitate to submit for grading due to long turnaround times and higher fees.

Currently, we only provide authentication services for the Zimbabwe 50 and 100 Trillion Dollar, 2008 series banknotes.

What We Examine

Authentication is based on detailed physical inspection and comparison to known genuine examples.

Paper & Substrate

  • Cotton-based paper characteristics
  • Thickness and texture consistency
  • Surface feel and fiber appearance
  • Fine-line clarity and engraving sharpness
  • Microprint review
  • Alignment and border registration
  • Ink density and consistency

UV & Security Review

  • Fluorescent response under ultraviolet light
  • Security feature placement and behavior
  • Text and font

Serial & Layout Analysis

  • Serial number font shape and spacing
  • Number formatting consistency
  • Known counterfeit indicators seen in the market

Authentication is determined through the total combination of these factors, not a single feature alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you grade the note?

No. This service verifies authenticity only.

Can circulated notes be authenticated?

Yes. Wear does not prevent authentication, though some features may naturally diminish over time.

What if the note is counterfeit?

You will receive a written report outlining the findings and the indicators that led to the determination. Authentication fees are non-refundable once inspection has begun, regardless of the outcome, as the service covers the professional review and documentation process.

Will this increase resale value?

Authentication can improve buyer confidence, but pricing depends on condition and market demand.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Each Certificate of Authenticity (COA) is issued based on a detailed review of known security features, print characteristics, and serial number verification specific to Zimbabwe hyperinflation banknotes. This authentication is guaranteed to be accurate. If the note is later determined to be non-authentic by a recognized third-party grading or authentication service, including PMG (Paper Money Guaranty) or PCGS Currency, a refund of the authentication service fee will be issued.

This guarantee applies only to the original note evaluated and must correspond to the serial number listed on the certificate. This guarantee applies only to the original note evaluated, original owner and is non-transferable. Any claim must be supported by written documentation from the verifying service and is subject to review and verification by Lanklu Designs & Banknotes prior to approval.

Refunds apply to the authentication service fee only and do not include shipping or other associated costs. Lastly, this guarantee is valid for a period of one (1) year from the date of COA issuance.
