This 1987 Somalia 5 Shilin Soomaali banknote (P-31c) is part of the final series of banknotes issued by the Central Bank of Somalia before the country’s prolonged period of civil unrest in the early 1990s. Printed by the renowned security printer De La Rue of London, the note showcases Somalia’s agricultural heritage and wildlife.
The front of the note depicts a herd of Cape buffalo, while the reverse features a banana plantation, highlighting two important elements of Somalia’s economy during the period. The bilingual design includes Somali, Arabic, and English text, reflecting the nation’s cultural and linguistic heritage.
Condition: Uncirculated. Sharp corners, no folds, no pinholes, and strong original color. Stored flat and protected.
